Genesis Magma & Neolun Concept Cars Reveal The Future Of Luxury Vehicles | Forbes

Genesis has been turning up the heat on BMW and Mercedes for nearly a decade, and now Hyundai’s luxury brand is showing off a crop of futuristic concept cars at the 2024 New York International Auto Show. Forbes Contributor Scotty Reiss (A Girls Guide to Cars) shows off the X Gran Berlinetta and Neolun, and explains the real reason concept cars are so important for brands. The Genesis X Berlinetta concept is a piping hot orange colored Korean supercar. Created by Genesis for the Vision Gran Turismo series, this sleek coupe is powered by a hybrid V6 powertrain pumping out a total of 1071 hp and 986 lb-ft of torque. For anyone wanting to drive the X Berlinetta (virtually of course), just access Gran Turismo 7, as the car was added to the game in January. The fully-electric Neolun (meaning “new moon”) is a big, hyper-luxurious SUV concept with a lavish two-row interior with front seats that swivel backward, but it could easily be a three-row machine if it reaches production.Inside, the Neolun is full of ambitious features, only some of which would make it to a real-world model. Rotating seats and coach doors have been done before on other vehicles, but the radiant heating in the floor and the complete lack of a B-pillar are ambitious indeed. The lights, which are totally flush with the body panels, seem more likely to make production.Read more on Forbes:https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexkwanten/2024/03/28/the-10-coolest-cars-from-the-2024-new-york-auto-show/For more from Scotty Reiss:https://agirlsguidetocars.com/Subscribe to FORBES: https://www.youtube.com/user/Forbes?sub_confirmation=1Fuel your success with Forbes. The Icelandic Met Office has warned of a significant risk of a volcanic eruption in the Reykjanes Peninsula, southwest Iceland, following noticeable geological changes. Grindavik, a town near the potential eruption site, has been evacuated as a precautionary measure. The Icelandic Met Office predicts a volcanic eruption could happen within days. The magma is gradually rising, and significant landscape alterations have been observed around Grindavik. The forthcoming eruption is expected to involve significantly more magma than similar incidents in the past two years.

Officials Uncertain When , Iceland Volcano Will Erupt.'Newsweek' reports that officials in Iceland have now expressed "considerable" uncertainty as to when the next volcanic episode will occur. .The news comes after another upward shift of magma pushed through the Earth's crust beneath Iceland, which could cause an eruption , "in the next few days or possibly after several months.".On December 6, the Icelandic Meteorological Office said that it was "not possible" to estimate the exact time of the next eruption. .The office has been warning of an eruption since a burst of seismic activity occurred on November 10. .Last week, a declining number of weaker earthquakes led experts to conclude that an imminent eruption was less likely but still possible.Officials have warned that volcanic activity could still increase in the region. For two weeks following the initial November 10 earthquake, between 1,500 and 1,800 more quakes were recorded before dropping to the low hundreds.'Newsweek' reports that most of the quakes have occurred near a magma dike estimated to be 9.3 miles long, which runs along the coastal fishing town of Grindavik. .After cracks began appearing in the ground, nearly 4,000 people in Grindavik were evacuated. After cracks began appearing in the ground, nearly 4,000 people in Grindavik were evacuated.Since the quakes began, officials have been building earthen walls, along with conduits and canals, in an attempt to direct potential lava away from buildings

Iceland Warns , Volcanic Eruption Is Near , After Hundreds of Earthquakes. After 700 earthquakes occurred on November 14, Iceland meteorologists said an additional 800 quakes were detected the following day. .CBS News reports that the series of earthquakes came after sulfur dioxide was detected, indicating that magma was near the ground surface. .Iceland's meteorological office said that the earthquakes occurred in the center of a magma dyke approximately two to three miles beneath the surface. .The office added that there are clear signs of deformation in the area, and magma continues to flow while part of the dyke appears to be "solidifying.".The update comes one day after the country's meteorological office warned that the risk of an imminent volcanic eruption "remains high.".The likelihood of an eruption remains high. If an eruption occurs, the most likely location will be on the magma intrusion. Our latest hazard assessment does not indicate any other potential eruption sites, Icelandic Met Office, November 14 update, via CBS.On November 15, the office released a follow-up statement, saying that , "the situation seems to be unchanged since yesterday." .The probability of an eruption is still considered high. In the event of an eruption, the most likely location is at the magma dyke, Icelandic Meteorological Office, via CBS.Reuters reports that Matthew James Roberts, the director of the Service and Research Division at the Icelandic Meteorological Office, says the situation "is worrying.".The seismic activity is close to a populated area.
